I think it’s important our residents are informed of the happenings in Town Hall," explained Nolan. *That is why when residents FOIL for information the Town refuses to answer or delays for months, which is against the law.
"This is about accountability of resources," said Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan.
"If you take your vehicle on a trip to Montauk, that's going to be on a GPS," he said. A spokeswoman for the town workers' union, Teamsters Local 237, declined to comment.
"What I've tried to do since I came to town hall was to increase accountability," said Islip Town Supervisor Philip Nolan.
This will enable the tracking of a total of 614 town vehicles used by employees, including public safety officers, code enforcement officers, commissioners and other town personnel, Nolan said. Nolan said that the GPS software will bolster the productivity of town services,
Nolan has aimed to put a lid on town expenses by cutting employee overtime, revoking health benefits for members of part-time boards. (But gave worker in his office p/t benefits+a personal contribution for consulting when she was married of 2000.00 to a kid)
"The person in charge was the worst abuser," Islip Supervisor Phil Nolan said. "That was the ultimate irony." (The worst irony is he turned out to be the worst abuser!)

During a heated two-hour informational meeting Friday, more than 100 residents clashed with Islip Town Supervisor Philip Nolan over his plan to raise rents on three Great South Bay islands and potentially evict longtime leaseholders. Boos and cries of "You're not getting re-elected" met Nolan in the packed town hall before he spoke about what he believed was his obligation to find ways of increasing town revenue.
"The idea of conducting an appraisal is completely in line with my fiduciary responsibility," Nolan told the crowd. He said later the town would consider residents' suggestions, including delaying the turnover process and implementing a payment plan option.
Speaker after speaker criticized the proposed plan, which, beginning June 1, would raise rents to what the town says is market value on 39 parcels on Captree Island, Sexton Island and Havermeyer Point Island. If a real estate representative wishes to display an apartment more than once, they must first check to see if it is properly permitted, he explained. In addition to this, Nolan highlighted the town's own initiative to curb illegal housing. "We want people to know that we have a code and we take it seriously," said Nolan.
This campaign sign placed by Nolan was put on the property of a home renting illegal apartments, but it was ok.

9/26-Newsday-BY ERIK GERMAN Brookhaven Republicans attacked Democratic Supervisor Brian Foley Wednesday for accepting campaign contributions from a development firm owned by a convicted felon looking to build in the town.
Gerald Monter's Westbury-based company, The Holiday Organization, made $4,750 in legal contributions to Foley this year, SuffolkCounty records show, placing it in the top five of the supervisor's corporate donors. And the firm has arranged to raise more. In 1988, the wealthy Manhasset developer was convicted of bribery for paying his chauffeur $5,000 to keep his name out of a murder investigation. Prosecutors accused Monter of ordering his chauffeur to break the kneecaps of a construction foreman after the man quit his job and made threats against Monter. The chauffeur hired someone to shoot the foreman in the legs, but the hired man instead killed the foreman. The chauffeur pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Monter served 18 months of a 11/2 to 41/2-year prison sentence.
“Everyone on the town board feels the same,” said Supervisor Phil Nolan. “This is visual pollution and we want to take steps to stop it.” Nolan has recently instructed the DPW to remove signs onsight after reporting an upsurge in both the number of advertisements and constituent complaints.
Newsday- "You know the fact that they went after these GPS devices and the fact that some employees didn't like us putting them in the vehicles kind of makes you think that," Nolan said. (so much for accusing employees of stealing, statement was terribly FALSE)
