To whom did this lesson come from? Lie threw your teeth to get a vote then drop you like a bad habit! You pay enormous taxes, what for a non resident to take our money and run, spend it else where? Supervisor Nolan wants his friendly board to approve hiring non residents for positions BY LAW not allowed, we're to dumb to realize it's a State law. But when he was looking for your support remember this LIE--
Islip Searches For New Town Attorney
Islip Bulletin—2/7-08--Under GOP control of IslipTown a number of appointed town officials did not hold town residency.“This is the proper way to avail ourselves to outstanding candidates when we can’t find candidates in our town,” Nolan said. “We’re always going to prefer Islip residents. We’re only going to do this (hire outsiders) when it’s for the absolute benefit of the town. To do this is also breaking a state law.Benefit for town! How about benefit for yourself.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the town attorney we have! Why is the supervisor PUSHING for non-residents to have jobs here, take our money and spend it else where.
Newsday should put any person they speak with under oath for comments. While Islip Republicans said yesterday they'd like to see the job go to an Islip resident, Nolan pointed out that past Republican-controlled boards had hired or retained commissioners, including an airport commissioner and a town comptroller, who did not meet the residency requirement. Commissioners do not have to reside here, Nolan should have thought about that remark as the residents and tax payers should again be reminded "he knew the comptroller did not reside here and said he didn't care he owned him!" Now obviously the Comptroller didn't want and was not going to be owned. The supervisor, deputy supervisor, town attorney, comptroller, town engineer are the only ones whom HAVE TO be a resident, due to a resolution passed years ago that residence will have priority for other positions. "But that we have seen now is not holding any water."
